About me
Shawn Leonard is an IT Analyst with the City of Tacoma’s Environmental Services department, where he supports the GIS needs of stormwater, wastewater, and solid waste utilities. Over the past year and a half, he has worked at the intersection of data, infrastructure, and environmental systems, helping teams better understand and manage critical public services through geospatial technology.
Shawn's key focus is turning complex data into practical, user-friendly tools that can be understood by both technical and non-technical audiences. Whether it is helping staff visualize system performance or improving access to key operational data, his goal is to make information easier to understand and more useful.
Shawn holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Washington, where he built a foundation in spatial thinking and data analysis. He is interested in how GIS continues to evolve alongside software development and is actively growing his skills in that direction.
