About me
Alex Arams is a GIS Analyst and fisheries field biologist with the South Puget Sound Salmon Enhancement Group (SPSSEG) in Olympia, WA. With nine years of experience in salmonid habitat assessment and restoration, he integrates drone mapping, UAV photogrammetry, RTK GNSS surveying, and remote sensing to support watershed analysis and habitat restoration across the South Puget Sound. Alex regularly uses drones and other low-cost tools to produce georeferenced orthomosaics, digital elevation models, and 360-degree imagery to inform hydrologic modeling, logjam wood counts, sediment composition, and other key floodplain reconnection metrics. He also has experience conducting fish abundance surveys using snorkeling, electrofishing, seining, and eDNA sampling. He holds a B.S. in Watershed Science from State University of New York - College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF)
